I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes three years ago, and my doctor advised me to eat healthy food. So, I started researching foods related to diabetes. Through this research, I learned how various properties of food affect our bodies and decided to find the healthiest options for my situation.
I initially planned to gather various properties of food and list them all in a spreadsheet. This allowed me to compare, sort, and filter out foods I didn't like, ultimately ending up with options that were both tasty and healthy. However, as the list grew, it became very difficult to manage using a spreadsheet. I also needed additional functionality that a simple spreadsheet couldn't provide. So, I decided to develop a tool that anyone could use easily to do the following:
Calculate daily requirements for macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals based on age, weight, and height.
Combine food items and check if your meals meet your nutritional needs.
Provide a detailed breakdown of calories, carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, sugar, vitamins, minerals, and glycemic index (GI) for various foods.
Be simple and easy to use.
After three years of research and collecting data on thousands of foods, I am thrilled to share the result: a comprehensive nutritional app based on European Food Safety Authority guidelines that includes all the features mentioned above and more.
I would really appreciate it if you could spend some time checking out the app and providing constructive criticism or advice.
